Aviation American Gin (America, 42% abv)

Established in Portland in 2002, Aviation American Gin is a popular Gin brand that we started to hear its name frequently after 2018, when the famous Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds bought a portion of the ownership stake. Aviation American Gin, joined Diageo in 2020, stands out especially with its branding efforts in recent years and its handsome bottle.

Aviation Gin begins with the maceration of nine botanicals including juniper, cardamom, coriander, orange, chervil, Sasparilla and lavender, in neutral grain spirit for 18 hours. Then it is then distilled, cut, and bottled at 42% ABV.

Tasting Notes: On the nose quite fresh and strong with notes of juniper, peppermint, coriander and citrus. It's spice-forward on the palate with orange peel, coriander, cardamom and black pepper. A warm long finish.

Aviation American Gin, stands out with its spice and citrus character. I found it quite enjoyable in Martini cocktails. When I try it in one of my favorite cocktails, Negroni, I enjoyed it yet I find it a bit unbalanced.
