Bowmore 12 is the 12-year standard bottling of Bowmore, one of the most important distilleries in Scotland's Islay region. Bowmore, IslayIt also has the distinction of being the first distillery established in 1779.
Bowmore, one of the few distilleries that carries out the Floor Malting process under its own roof, also carries out the fermentation process in traditional wooden washback tanks. Therefore, we can say that Bowmore has a traditionalist approach to whiskey production.
Bowmore is owned by Morrison Bowmore Distillers Ltd, which also owns the Auchentoshan and Glen Garioch distilleries. This company is also the Japanese liquor giant. suntory Let me tell you that it's in.
Bowmore 12 (Scottish Single Malt, 40% abv)
Nose: With the first sniff, the elegant peat character, which does not tire the nose at all, shows itself immediately. Peat, oak, leather, iodine and moss. Especially oak is very dominant. As the glass gets a little airy, after eight, vanilla and tropical fruit scents appear. In an intense and balanced image.
Palate: Spicy and salty aromas are accompanied by slightly sooty flavors. It is followed by oak, cinnamon and vanilla. It is more spicy and strong on the palate compared to the nose. It is quite full and creamy in character.
Finish: Spicy, sooty, salty with a long finish. Oak is very prominent.
Comment: Bowmore 12 is an easy-drinking Islay malt with a pronounced peat effect, but not too “tiring”. I especially liked the peat and tropical fruit character on the nose.
