Fettercairn 12, İskoçya’nın Highland bölgesinde bulunan Fettercairn damıtımevinin Amerikan meşe Bourbon fıçılarda 12 olgunlaştırdıktan sonra %40 dereceyle şişelediği ekspresyonu.
Founded by Alexander Ramsay in 1824, the distillery is known for its extraordinary pot still operation. Fettercairn sprays cold water down the sides of the still, which aids reflux and lead to a lighter spirit.
*Reflux: It is a term that can be summarized as the re-distillation of the alcohol when vapour meets a cooler surface inside the still, turns back into liquid, falls back down the still and is re-distilled. The higher the reflux, the softer the alcohol is expected to be.
Fettercairn 12 (İskoç Single Malt, %40 abv)
Nose: Fresh fruity note like mango, pineapple, peach and melon. Followed by milk chocolate, vanilla, honey and light malt. Rich and soft.
Palate: Very elegant and soft with tropical fruits and citrus aromas. The fruity aromas are followed by oak, toffee and hint of white pepper. A bit of dry and bitter profile with orange peel.
Finish: Medium finish with orange, white pepper and oak.
Comment: Fettercairn 12 was the distillery's first expression I've tasted and I can say it far exceeded my expectations. I especially enjoyed the rich character in the nose. A very fruity, smooth-tasting, elegant malt.
