Johnnie Walker Black Label Sherry Finish aged for 12 years prior to being finished in barrels seasoned with Sherry from Jerez.

It has exactly the same blend, alcohol level and 12-year maturation period as Black Label, the only difference is the finishing in sherry barrels.

Johnnie Walker Black Label Sherry Finish (Blended Scotch, 40% abv)

Nose: With the first sniff, caramel, vanilla, honey and dried fruits. It would be hard to tell it was Black Label in a blind tasting, as the peaty and smoke notes are far behind. With a little swirl, oak, black pepper and smoke notes appears and show the Black Label character a little. Aromatic.

Palate: Has a very sweet character similar to the nose. Sweet-spicy and smoky aromas followed by caramel, honey, chocolate and dried fruits. A thick sweetness and a little dryness from the sherry casks. The body is slightly weaker compared to the standard Black Label.

Finish: A dry, warm, medium-length finish with dried fruits, caramel, light smoke and black pepper.

Overall: Johnnie Walker Black Label Sherry Finish is an aromatic and warm expression with sweet character. Although it is a little weak in body and less balance compared to the standard Black Label, I found it enjoyable. It is a very good alternative for those who like sherry whiskies.
