Laphroaig Douglas Laing's Premier Barrel 11, one of Scotland's leading independent bottlers Douglas Laingof 11 years Laphroaig bottling.
Expression, which was distilled in 2000, was aged for 11 years and then put into special carafes as Single Cask, which you can see in the picture. This bottle is one of 384 hand-filled bottles from the same barrel.
This is Douglas Laing's first bottling. Gusto Whiskey Club we did with “Whiskeys in Memories” I had the opportunity to taste it. In addition to this expression, we tasted whiskeys such as Dimple, Logan, Glengoyne, Glenlivet and Highland Park from the 80's and 90's.
Laphroaig Douglas Laing's Premier Barrel 11 (Scottish Single Malt, 46% abv)
Nose: As soon as I smell it, smoked and burnt smells immediately show themselves. Burnt milk, skin and soot. They are followed by sweet notes such as chocolate and caramel. Afterwards, mossy and salty scents. Quite rich and intense.
Palate: Smoked and sooty aromas are evident as in the nose. It has a very soft and creamy texture. Chocolate and fudge flavors are accompanied by malt and salt.
Finish: Long and dry in the finish. Smoked flavors are still evident. Light bitter and salt.
Comment: I can say that I really like this bottling of Douglas Laing in general. I especially liked the smoked scents on the nose and the creamy texture on the palate. A rich, intense and yet easy-drinking expression.
