The foundations of this expression, the brand's chief distiller Dr Bill LumsdenIt was thrown out during 's distillery tours in Kentucky in the 1990s. Admiring the spicy character of rye whiskey during his travels, Dr. Lumsden thought that this character would be very compatible with the smooth structure of Glenmorangie. So he decided to do some experiments on rye whiskey barrels, and the result was Glenmorangie Spìos.

Here are the tasting notes of Glenmorangie Spìos:

Nose: Herbaceous notes such as cloves, grass and straw are accompanied by sweet notes such as cherry and toffee.

Palate: Spices and sweet aromas are in the foreground. Toffee, cinnamon and vanilla. Quite creamy and full.

Finish: Long and rich. Oak, cherry and pepper.
