Nose: Intense sweet scents reminiscent of rum on the nose are accompanied by plenty of sooty, smoked and slightly medicated scents. It gets richer with a little airing of the glass. Dried fruit, almonds, bitters and honey.
Palate: Similarly on the palate. There is a beautiful harmony of sooty, smoked flavors and liquor-like sugary aromas. Lots of spices and peppers. Quite full and strong.
Finish: A long finish with woody, smoked and caramelized flavors.
Comment: Octomore Masterclass 08.02 is a really interesting whiskey with plenty of peat, intense soot, and mouth-watering sweet aromas like rum. I think it was the most successful expression of the Masterclass series!
