Octomore Masterclass 08.2is a 58.4-degree wild malt with a peat level of 167 ppm* that spent the first 6 years in three different barrels, one for French Mourvedre red wine, one for Australian dessert wine, and one for French Sauterness wine.

*The amount of peat in whiskey is measured by the amount of phenol in it (PPM – Phenol parts per million)

Octomore Masterclass 08.2 (Single Malt, 51.8% abv)

Nose: Intense sweet scents reminiscent of rum on the nose are accompanied by plenty of sooty, smoked and slightly medicated scents. It gets richer with a little airing of the glass. Dried fruit, almonds, bitters and honey.

Palate: Similarly on the palate. There is a beautiful harmony of sooty, smoked flavors and liquor-like sugary aromas. Lots of spices and peppers. Quite full and strong.

Finish: A long finish with woody, smoked and caramelized flavors.

Comment: Octomore Masterclass 08.02 is a really interesting whiskey with plenty of peat, intense soot, and mouth-watering sweet aromas like rum. I think it was the most successful expression of the Masterclass series!
