on Tuesday, November 5 Maslak 42 – Zino LoungeWe had a very enjoyable whiskey tasting in . In the tasting with 22 participants, our theme was Scotch whiskey. 

I first started my tasting with a general whiskey training. After we talked about the introduction to whiskey culture such as whiskey history, production and varieties, we moved on to Scotland.

We talked about whiskey production in Scotland, whiskey regions, Scottish whiskey types. In this episode, the narration was accompanied by the shots I took at the distillery on my trip to Scotland.

After a general whiskey narration and Scotland, we moved on to whiskey tasting. I have tried to create as rich and varied menu as possible for Scottish Whiskeys tasting.

We tried 7 whiskeys from different parts of Scotland:

  • Auchentoshan American Oak
  • Glenfiddich 15 Solera
  • Johnnie Walker 18
  • Monkey Shoulder
  • Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 14
  • Talisker 10
  • Ardbeg 10

To my tasting, from the Lowland region of Scotland Auchentoshan American Oak We started with the expression. Auchentoshan, which is the only distillery in Scotland with "3 distilleries", stood out in general with its soft, easy-drinking and fruity character.

Our 2nd whiskey Glenfiddich 15 Solera We made the transition to Speyside. While tasting Glenfiddich 15, which I had the chance to visit very recently, matured using the Solera method of the distillery, we talked about the subtleties of the maturation process and the importance of the barrel. 

After Lowland and Speyside malts, Johnnie Walker 18 We took a look at the Blended category. While tasting Johnnie Walker 18, which is in the Premium Blended category, we talked about blended whiskeys and blending processes.

our 4th whiskey Monkey Shoulder We examined the Blended Malt category, which is another whiskey type. Monkey Shoulder, which is a blend of Balvenie, Glenfiddich and Kininvie malts, drew attention with its wonderful bottle design and enjoyable story in addition to its balanced and rich character.

Highland rep of the night after 2 threshing Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 14 We made a return to Single Malts with While tasting this expression, which I had the opportunity to try for the first time at this event, we talked about different types of barrels and their effects on whiskey.

After the cask-effect Glenmorangie expression, Talisker 10 We switched to peat (peat) effect. While tasting Talisker 10 produced in Skye, we talked about the general character of island whiskeys and the effect of peat usage on whiskey.

Our last whiskey is Islay representative of the night. Ardbeg 10 it happened. While tasting this expression, we talked about the island of Islay, which is a very small but magical geography, about the smoked whiskeys and their accompaniments.

After the tasting, I had 2 raffle surprises for the participants. The first of these was the Glencairn tasting glass. Another surprise was the invitation for 2 people to the Whiskey & Whiskey 3rd Year Party on 13 November.
