Yamazaki Distiller’s Reserve (Japon Single Malt, %43 abv)
Nose: Floral notes emerge with the first sniff. Quite fresh and perfumed. I can describe this character as the smell of freshly washed laundry. I also felt a very faint smell of coffee liquor. Floral notes are followed by fruity scents such as coconut, red fruits and apple. As the glass got a little airier, the sugar, honey and chocolatey notes became clear. He really has a very rich character. You feel a different note with each sniff.
Palate: The aromas of red fruits and spices are quite distinctive. Rich fruity flavors such as raspberry, fig and grape are accompanied by caramel, oak and light black pepper. It's like you're eating jam... It's bodied and aromatic.
Finish: Too long. Cinnamon, apple and vanilla.
Overall: Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve is an extremely rich and powerful expression. It shows a different richness in each sniff, especially in the nose. It offers a pleasant taste by continuing the same richness on the palate and in the finish.
