A Lowland blended malt from well-known bottler Douglas Laing, The Epicurean White Port Finish is the latest edition to brand’s Wood Finish series. After initially matured in traditional oak casks, this whisky is finished in a hand-selected single white Port cask from the Douro Valley in northern Portugal.

The Epicurean White Port Finish (Blended Malt Scotch, 48% abv)

Nose: Starts with citrus, honey, fresh oak and ginger, followed by vanilla, red apples and hint of anise.

Palate: Quite similar with the nose. Citrus, orange peel, ginger and oaky flavours are accompanied by black pepper, liquorice and red fruits. Sweet and dry.

Finish: A medium-long finish with dry and bitter notes. Lemon, fresh oak and ginger.

Final Comments: Starts sweet and turns into a more bitter and dry character, The Epicurean White Port Finish is an enjoyable dram with a satisfying abv level and long finish. Yet I found it a little young and too bitter at the palate, I wish to see more honey and fruits from the white port casks.

Bitiş: Limon, yeni meşe ve zencefil tatları ile orta-uzun arası bir uzunlukta. Kuru ve bitter.

Genel Yorumlarım: The Epicurean White Port Finish tatlı başlayıp kuru karaktere bürünen biraz genç bir görüntüde olsa da keyifli bir şişe olmuş. Yüksek alkol oranı ve uzun bitişiyle kendini hissettirse de, özellikle damakta port fıçılarından gelen karakteri biraz daha görmek isterdim.
