This year’s edition is a rich, fruity single malt was matured entirely in ex-sherry casks laid down at an undisclosed Speyside distillery for 15 years. Bottled at 52.5% abv without chill-filtration and no added colouring, A Good Old-Fashioned Christmas Whisky – 15 Year Old 2023 Edition is released with a limited number of 1,800 bottles. As the name suggests, this festive bottle promises an old-fashioned profile that recalls the traditional sherried malts of years gone by and evoke the flavours which remind us of a good old-fashioned Christmas.

A Good Old-Fashioned Christmas Whisky – 15 Year Old 2023 Edition (Single Malt Scotch, 52.5% abv)

Nose: The notes of sultanas, dried fruits, orange peel, apple candy and caramel. Followed by old leather, almonds, ginger honey and clove. Quite sweet with strong spice and juicy feeling.

Palate: A sweet start with dried fruits, vanilla, honey, orange peel, popping candy and fruit cake. Sherry character is quite strong. After initial sweetness and juiciness, some roasted and spicy flavours emerge. Ginger, cinnamon, roasted coffee beans, dark wood and bitter chocolate. The texture is quite oily and rounded. 52.5% abv definitely shows itself but it accompanies well with sweet spice character.

Finish: A long length finish with cinnamon, ginger, leather and roasted notes.

As a whisky enthusiast who likes old style sherry character and Christmas season, A Good Old-Fashioned Christmas Whisky – 15 Year Old 2023 Edition is perfect for my taste. I can definitely imagine myself sipping this whisky in a cold night Christmas night. It is truly a “Christmas” whisky that offers an oily and rounded texture with delicious sweet & spice flavours, as well as a little kick with it’s 52.5% abv.

Damak: Burunda olduğu gibi damakta da sherry karakteri oldukça yoğun. Kuru meyve, vanilya, bal, portakal kabuğu, patlayan şeker ve meyveli kek tatları. Dolgun tatlı karakter sonrası baharatlı ve hafif kavruk tatlar belirginleşiyor. Zencefil, tarçın, kavruk kahve çekirdeği, meşe ve bitter çikolata. Damakta oldukça yağlı ve gövdeli. 52.5%’lik alkol derecesi kendini belli ediyor ama tatlı ve baharatlı tatlar ile gayet uyumlu.

Bitiş: Tarçın, zencefil, deri ve kavruk notalar ile oldukça uzun bir bitiş.
