A Good Old-Fashioned Christmas Whisky is a festive whisky released by The Whisky Exchange. 2022 Edition is a blend of hogsheads and sherry butts from Glen Elgin, Linkwood, Blair Athol, Strathclyde and Cameronbridge. This whisky has been specifically blended to evoke the flavours which remind us of a good old-fashioned Christmas.

A Good Old-Fashioned Christmas Whisky (Blended Scotch, 50.5% abv)

Nose: The notes of raisins, sugar apple, caramel, rum, brown sugar, dark chocolate are accompanied by cinnamon, ginger and almond. Quite rich and sweet.

Palate: A sweet start with dried fruits, red fruits, honey, apple, raisin, vanilla and honey. The sherry character is very prominent. These aromas are followed by growing oak spice, char and sweet spices. Savoury, sweet and increasingly dry.

Finish: A warm, slightly dry, sweet and long finish with dark chocolate, raisins and oak char.

Comment: A Good Old-Fashioned Christmas Whisky is one of the best blends I have tasted in 2022. It is truly a “Christmas” whisky with its full sweet structure and rich character. Although it has a high price for a Nas Blended whisky, The Whisky Exchange has done a pretty good job with this blend.

Burun: Kuru üzüm, elma şekeri, karamel, rom, esmer şeker, bitter çikolata notalarına tarçın, zencefil ve badem kokuları eşlik ediyor. Oldukça zengin ve tatlı.

Damak: Kuru meyveler, kırmızı meyveler, bal, elma, kuru üzüm, vanilya ve bal aromalarıyla oldukça dolgun, tatlı bir başlangıç. Şeri karakteri çok belirgin. Bu aromaları meşe, çok hafif yanıksı tatlar ve tatlı baharatlar takip ediyor. Ağız sulandıran fakat giderek damağı kurutan dolgun bir karakterde.

Bitiş: Bitter çikolata, kuru üzüm ve hafif yanık meşe ile sıcak, hafif kuru, tatlı ve uzun bir bitiş.

Genel Yorum: A Good Old-Fashioned Christmas Whisky, 2022’de tattığım en iyi harmanlardan biri diyebilirim. Dolgun tatlı yapısı ve zengin karakteriyle, tam anlamıyla “Christmas” ruhunu yansıtan bir viski olmuş. Yıl ibaresiz bir Blended viskiye göre yüksek bir fiyatı olsa da The Whisky Exchange ortaya gerçekten zengin bir harman çıkarmış.
