İskoçya’nın yeni bağımsız şişeleyicilerinden Woven’ın son viskisi Woven Whisky Experience N.22, “dünyanın ilk %100 İngiliz harmanı’ olma özelliğini taşıyor. Woven’ın kurucu ortağı ve harmancısı Peter Allison ortaya çıkarılan ekspresyon, 6 İngiliz viskisinin harmanından oluşuyor. Experience N.22 Pastures New içerisinde Cotswolds Distillery, White Peak, Cooper King Distillery, Copper Rivet, Fielden ve Adnams damıtımevlerinden gelen viskiler bulunuyor. %49.1 alkol derecesiyle şişelenen bu özel viskiden sadece 711 adet bulunuyor.

Londra’da yapılan lansman etkinliğinde deneme şansı yakaladığım Woven Whisky Experience N.22 ile ve genel olarak İngiliz viskileriyle ilgili Peter Allison’ın sözleri oldukça ilgi çekici: “İngiltere’nin viski üretimi açısından cazibesi, köklü el sanatları geleneği ve görece genç, özgür yaklaşımından kaynaklanıyor. Bu iki unsurun bir araya gelmesi hem heyecan verici bir hikâye hem de lezzetli bir viski ortaya çıkarıyor. Takip edilecek bir gelenek olmaması, İngilizlerin standardı en yüksek seviyeye çıkarmasına olanak sağlıyor.” 

Woven Whisky Experience N.22 (Blended English Whisky, 49.1% abv)

Burun: Tuzlu karamel, sütlü çikolata, krema ve vanilya gibi dolgun tatlı kokulara kırmızı meyve, muz, tahıl ve yeni meşe eşlik ediyor. Oldukça kompleks bir karaktere sahip.

Damak: Burunda olduğu gibi damakta da dolgun bir tatlılık var. Kırmızı meyve, narenciye, muz, vanilya, tuzlu karamel nüanslarını meşe ve malt eşlik ediyor. Alkol ve fıçı etkisi kendini damakta biraz daha hissettiriyor.

Bitiş: Karamel, narenciye ve meşe ile orta uzunlukta bir bitiş.

Woven Whisky Experience N.22, hikayesi ve üretim detaylarıyla benzersiz bir viski. Özellikle burunda hikayesiyle uyum sağlayan bir zenginliği var. Bu zenginliğin damakta devam etmemesi bu viskiye yapabileceğim tek eleştiri olabilir. Yine de oldukça kompleks bir harman olduğunu söyleyebilirim. £55’luk fiyatı bağımsız bir şişeleyiciden bu tarz bir şişe için gayet iyi.

One of Scotland’s newest independent bottlers, Woven, has introduced its latest whisky, Woven Whisky Experience N.22, which is hailed as “the world’s first 100% English blend.” Co-founder and blender Peter Allison crafted this expression by blending six English whiskies. Experience N.22 Pastures New features spirits from Cotswolds Distillery, White Peak, Cooper King Distillery, Copper Rivet, Fielden, and Adnams. This unique whisky is bottled at 49.1% ABV, with only 711 bottles available.

At the launch event in London, I had the opportunity to taste Woven Whisky Experience N.22, and Peter Allison’s thoughts on English whisky were particularly intriguing: “England’s appeal as a whisky-producing country lies in its deep-rooted craft traditions and its relatively young, free approach to whisky. The fusion of these two elements creates both an exciting story and a delicious whisky. With no long-standing tradition to follow, the English have the freedom to set the bar as high as possible.”

Nose: Rich and sweet aromas of salted caramel, milk chocolate, cream, and vanilla are complemented by red fruits, banana, grains, and fresh oak. The profile is notably complex.

Palate: Just like on the nose, there is a full-bodied sweetness on the palate. Red fruits, citrus, banana, vanilla, and salted caramel nuances are joined by oak and malt. The influence of alcohol and cask is more pronounced on the palate.

Finish: A medium-length finish with caramel, citrus, and oak.

Woven Whisky Experience N.22 is a unique whisky with a compelling story and distinctive production details. Notably, its nose aligns beautifully with its narrative, offering remarkable depth and complexity. My only critique would be that this richness doesn’t fully carry over to the palate. At £55, however, it’s a solid offering for this style from an independent bottler.
